Kuria — Kuria Island has launched a groundbreaking WiFi expansion project set to transform digital connectivity across the region.
The comprehensive telecommunications initiative now covers 80% of the island, representing the most extensive connectivity project in the region's history and a major advancement in local digital infrastructure.
Distinguished guests gathered for the launch ceremony, which began with a traditional prayer led by the local catechist and opening remarks from the Unimwane, highlighting the cultural importance of this technological advancement.
In his address, Chairman Mr. Wayne Reiher outlined the project's vision and anticipated impact. The ceremony was attended by prominent officials including Mr. Willie Tokataake, Minister of Communications, Transport and Tourism Development, alongside CCK commissioners, staff members, community leaders, and Island Council representatives.
Following the official proceedings, the Kuria people and Island Council hosted a celebratory feast, embodying the community's collective achievement and solidarity.
